Claire is not a napper. This was yesterday afternoon’s failed attempt at her evening nap. We call her the nap nazi. As you can see, Caroline has no problem getting her beauty sleep.

i picked her right out of the cabbage patch

I made my first attempt at making collards on New Year’s Day and I was a little nervous how they would turn out, so I called my Grandma to get her recipe for fixing them because I could eat a truckload of her collards. She adds cabbage to her greens so I did, too.

Claire was none too pleased about the huge leaf on her head, but I could not resist this photo op.

Now when she asks me where babies come from, I can show her this and tell her that all babies come from the cabbage patch ;) i kid.

Caroline the camera ham.

I cannot get her to pose for a picture like a normal child. She is always making faces at the camera…but with a face this adorable, I’ll take the silliness any day.

Claire, my little bear:

You’ve really done a number on me.

I can’t even begin to tell you how much I needed you. I can’t put into words the kind of joy you bring. I could never imagine a life without you in it. I look at you and I am speechless.

All I know is you made my heart open up so much bigger than I ever dreamed possible. You, along with your big sister have helped me become the mother I always knew I could be.

I say it over and again to your daddy—I do not deserve you or Caroline but I promise to spend all the days of my life earning you. I love you so much, little bear.

your Momma.

Getting Claire to sit still to take pictures was next to impossible, but I caught some pretty cute shots ;)

We started a tradition this year…..

Thanksgiving weekend, we traveled to Boone to pick out our tree. Caroline was super excited!

We found a tree farm waaaaay up the mountain and let me just tell you….the view was amazing!

After spending close to an hour there, we finally decided on this monster. It’s pushing 10 feet tall and it’s quite possibly the most beautifully shaped tree I have ever seen!

Of course, it was a nightmare to decorate, but once finished, we couldn’t take our eyes off it. It is perfectly centered so we can see it while we snuggle on the couch and at least once a night, the girls and I go sit with it and admire its glow.

Christmas is such a magical time of year and the sparkle in the eyes of my little girls is the perfect gift. They have no idea how precious their gift is to me but I plan to remind them as often as I can how much they mean to their daddy and me.
